Sunday 23rd July 2017

9.30 - 1pm

£35 for dog & handler

£10 for spectator

Spaces are limited

This half day workshop is the perfect introduction to tracking – no experience necessary.

Tracking allows your dog to engage their natural instincts, while building their confidence and encouraging calm focus. During the workshop you’ll learn how to motivate your dog to follow a scent trail, how to lay a basic track and to work your dog along that track.

This workshop is suitable for all breeds and ages of dog. Please bring your dog on a harness and long line lead, if you do not have a long line I have one you can borrow. Your dog may be required to wait in the car (weather dependent) for very short periods while you are laying new tracks.

At the Centre we will be hosting the ADPT (Association of Pet Dog Trainers) assessment weekend on Saturday 26th & Sunday 27th August.
The APDT UK assess all members according to a strict criteria which ensures they have appropriate skills to teach dog training. They are required to keep their education up to date, and adhere to a Code of Practice, meaning better trainers are out there teaching.
During the weekend trainers wishing to join the APDT will be assessed on how they teach a class using methods that are kind, fair and effective.
To be able to do this we need to supply dogs and handlers who would like to assist trainers further their career.
The class will consist of the trainer teaching the dog to ‘sit’, ‘down’, ‘stand’, walking on a loose lead, ‘leave it’, and other basic exercises.
Each class will last for a hour with a 15 minute ‘meet the trainer’ at the start.
If you and your dog can spare a hour or 2 and would like to join in a free class which will be taught by one of the candidates please contact us for more information.
Classes will consist of up to 6 dogs and handlers so it’s a must that dogs are able to be around other dogs and adults as this is a stressful event for the trainers and we would like to make it as relaxed as possible for them.
For more info please Private message through this event page .
The event will be held at Unit 3, Badgworth Barns, Notting Hill Way, Weare, Axbridge BS26 2JU
